Actually Simon, I did know that.
And in some cases in my blog- in other posts- I have referred to them
as Lego bricks or even Lego pieces or Lego blocks or blox.

But for colloquial reasons (the same reason I call sneakers 'sneaks'
or 'kicks') and for the way the majority of the public searches for
such things, -- be it right or wrong, many of us casually refer to
them as Legos.
But you are absolutely correct and I will take that into account the
next time I mention them.....

Fascinating stuff, but you really ought to know that these models are not, repeat NOT made from "legos". There are no such things as "legos" - the word is a clumsy American construct unknown outside the USA and frowned upon by the LEGO company. In all other English-speaking countries, the elements are known either as "LEGO bricks", as in "You rat-fink - you've used up all the blue LEGO bricks!", or simply "LEGO", as in "Good grief - it's made entirely from LEGO!", or "This bloke has built a working LEGO harpsichord!"

Sad to say, but Michelle Kaufmann went out of business a few weeks ago, leaving many homeowners, partners, contractors, investors, and former employees in the lurch. Might want to stick to strictly Lego versions of her homes from now on.
